Alps: New November temperature records

Since October 31, the air mass at high altitude has been exceptionally mild in Central Europe. On November 1, the radiosounding of Payerne by MeteoSwiss recorded the highest zero degree isotherm in November since measurements began in 1954. It was at 4284 meters. Also the following days, November 2 to 4, were similarly warm. New temperature records were also set in Germany and Austria. This shows that the freezing level was exceptionally high for this time of year.
