Hollywood Meets Weather Storytelling

When it comes to the Himalayas, few legends are as mysterious as the Yeti—the mythical creature said to roam the icy heights of the world’s tallest mountains. This is precisely where the animated film “Abominable” (German title: Everest – Ein Yeti will hoch hinaus) from DreamWorks Animation and Pearl Studio takes inspiration. The heartwarming adventure follows a young girl who discovers a lost Yeti named Everest and embarks on a journey to bring him home.

Perfect weather storytelling for a movie

But how do you make an animated film appealing to a broader audience? That’s where WeatherStory stepped in. Together with Warner Bros. Germany, we developed a unique storytelling campaign to engage not just kids but also an older audience with an exciting, real-world connection.

A Legendary Setting for a Legendary Tale

For our exclusive mini-documentary, we teamed up with renowned mountaineer Ralf Dujmovits, one of the world’s leading Himalayan experts, and took him to a setting as breathtaking as the story itself: the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland.

Shooting in an amazing alpine landscape of the Jungfrau region

Surrounded by majestic glaciers and a frozen alpine world, we asked him about his thoughts on the Yeti legend, drawing parallels between the myths of the Himalayas and the real-life challenges of mountaineering. The result? A fascinating blend of adventure, science, and film storytelling, bringing the magic of “Everest” to life in an entirely new way.
